What is the role of the national sample survey organisation (NSSO)? The survey is conducted on a regular basis by the National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO), India ’ s premier data collection agency. Since 1972, the NSSO has fallen under the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation of the Government of India (GOI). The role of the NSS must be seen in the broader context of Indian economic development.
